Old thread, new info. I used foam bought at a craft store on mine and it seems to be holding up very well so far! I even used it to make a custom surround around my steering column swap. It's available in black and may not be too UV stable, but most of the places we use foam doesn't get a lot of direct attention. Our local micheals has a whole selection of sheets of foam for crafts. -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrc II " Chronic Pain Hurts" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> > On Sun, 23 Mar 2008, Matt Haas wrote: > > > bright idea that I should fiddle with it before doing that (this is > > where the not particularly smart thing comes in). > > Oh I dunno -- yeah it's crazy but that's a given since we drive > too-old cars :-) > > > > What I'm looking for are these parts: > > > - Heater core end (fits all models) and front (67 American only), and > > side gaskets. > > I imagine most of the gaskets you'll make from hardware store stock... > > > - Heater core tube seal (the one commonly available has a 3/4" and a > > 5/8" opening, 1967 and earlier used two 5/8" openings). > > I bet NAPA has something in their catalogs, or a hotrod A/C > supplier (vintageair?) > > > Since I have to take the heater box apart to fix the broken stud, I'd > > also like to replace the foam on the air doors. > > That's a tough one!
