Re: [Amc-list] cross country on ebay-hood spears? (56-57 Ramblers?)

The last small Nash Rambler was the 55. The four door was stretched from a 100" wheelbase to 108" to give more back seat room. There was no four door in 54, only a two door sedan/hardtop/wagon.

1955 models were sold as Nash or Hudson, with appropriate grille badges and hubcaps (N or H), everything else marked Rambler or R. The car was redesigned to be bigger in 1956 and sold as a separate make. Only four door sedans and wagons in 56 and 57, 108" wheelbase, but wider than the 55 four door. This same floor pan (and most mechanicals) was used from 56-62 with only minor changes. Above the floor pan changed drastically -- almost every panel starting in 1958. I used to think the 56-57 models were a totally different body and floor pan, but discovered that the floor pan is the same once I had collected the 56 and 58 TSMs.

There wasn't a 56 Rambler was there? Just 55 and then
the rambler was reborn in 58? I thought the 56, 57,
years only had Nashes and Hashes.
