I am contemplating taking my windshield wipers off the amx (69) to repaint the car. Any suggestions of what to do or not to do.

Hi guys, sorry to ask a question that I know has been asked, but I can't find the answer in the forum.
My 63 American didn't pass a brake inspection because 3 of the 4 drums are too thin. Where can I get good ones, either new or used. Bruce Gasser has a lot of drums, but none of them would pass, from what the inspector told me. Oh, and for what its worth, Bruce has a 60 American 2 dr Deluxe that I would have bought if I had run across it first. Its sweet.
This is stamped on the passing drum. SD11 (or 8D11, I couldn't tell for sure), 9.06 DIA MAX, WF2 212233-G.

Eh, if only they had fixed that darned power valve problem back in the
1980s. I think they fixed it with the 4410 (?) Series, but my experience
with Holly carbs was that when they backfired, it usually blew out power
valve and could never get it to idle properly again. Just my humble own
reckonings! Hope they come out of it.

I went to bleed my brakes today and broke off a bleeder valve.
Couldn't remove the broken bleeder valve with needle nose pliers,
so I pulled the wheel cylinder. In the process, I got a lot of brake
fluid on the brake shoe.
So - any hints on removing broken bleeder valves? The wheel cylinder
has 16 miles on it. I'll replace if I can't extract, though. Also,
just hit the brake shoe with brake cleaner? I didn't get any grease or
oil on the shoe, and it only has 16 miles on it - so if I can
clean it, I'd prefer to.
And lesson learned - when replacing the brake light switch, have a
friend hit the brakes so you can check for leaks. And if your pedal
goes to the floor, check the last thing you "fixed". I'm happy I just
drove it around the neighborhood for testing.

Last I checked (last summer) RockAUto has better prices (NEW
Raybestors drum + shipping) than local stores.
You want a Raybestos 2501 drum, front and rear. They're the
same; the hub in front seems one-piece with the drum but it's
not. THe rear will give you the hint where they attach. They're just
pressed on.

How'd it break? The bleeder doesn't need to be THAT tight, just
snug. You'll have to use the usual tools to get the broken one
out (extractors and all that). Ive always had bad luck with that
sort of work.

Eh, others may disagree, but if you haven't cooked it in driving
I think freon brake cleaner will do it. Oil and grease are
another story.
Yeah, testing especially on really old parts is a good
idea. Gross errors like big leaks usually show up in bleeding
procedures, where the ends result of bleeding is a firm pedal.
A nice followup is, after you get the pedal stiff after bleeding,
give the blleder area and all new/tightened/changed parts and
joints a squirt with brake cleaner and run a dry rag under
new joints. Press the pedal hard a few times. Then go put your
clean and washed and dry fingers under all the joints/parts --
better be no fluid. Flared tubing ends especially can seep slowly
and pass bleeding OK and seep out a lot of fluid over time.
Dont' grossly overtighten joints If unsure, leave not tight
enough, bleed, leak-check as above, and tighten just enough
to stop any leak. Overtightening stresses parts and causes
failures more than it stops leaks.

At Rock Auto, they are on the catalog, but not available. (it says in red that the order may be delayed 38 days!) Total Price $125.08
At Parts America, they supposedly ship in 3 days, total price $125.97.
I think for 89 cents I will go with Parts America.
Next question, is it ok to just buy 3? One of the ones on my Rambler did pass inspection afterall, therefore, the other 3 must not be "pairs" anyway....

Well, it looks like I got the fever to do my AMX V8
swap before the Hot Rod Power Tour... just cant't do
without that rumble for another year! My son's going
with me again this year...at 13 who knows how many
more times that will happen?
I have a 70 model 360 with matching R4B, Ebrk carb and
performer cam kit with double roller timing
chain...HEI dist.
When looking at Exhaust options, I can make most of my
own exhaust, but the part coming off the ex manifolds
is kind of tricky. I would LOVE to get some of the
Shorty Ebrk headers, but don't have 4 bills to drop
and I would still have to get those down pipes made.
My thought is to get some full length headers and I
can do the rest. It's been many moons since I have
used headers, though I said I would probably never use
them again, here I am! I know that modern headers
have thicker flanges and I can get perma-lock style
fasteners with copper gaskets, however, what about
install/removal. Back in the day, I had mixed
results!
So who has experience with some of these out there? I
am looking for a set that I don't have to half pull
the engine to remove... any recommendations?

Wow! Well I got mine there for like $40 each in cluding
shipping, from stock! Wow, that's a bad change for such a short
period... musta been stock laying around now sold.
Personally, I'd spring for four new drums, that way you can
just not worry about them for a long time. Keep that other one
as a spare or whatever. But it is a buncha bucks at those prices.
I'm thinking I will later this year explore the Scarebird
adapters for the 63 AMerican, and put those 10x1.75 drums out
back. THAT! will be enough brake!
