The only reason I can think of is that you could theoreticaly use a 4.0L flywheel.
With it's forward location ring, maybe you could then use a Block plate to adapt to the late model bellhousing.
Maybe, use the older "new" flywheel?
Who knows?
Anyway, the only reason I can think of is to mount up a late model trans to the early sixes.
No reason this could not be worked out by someone with the time and resources.
You'd not end up with a visualy correct swap as the starter would move to the passenger side.
