Re: [Amc-list] 24 Hours of LeMons!

The Eagle 4WD stuff is all Jeep based. The only thing that might be a problem is the locking front axle if the car has select drive. In that case simply wire the axle in the locked position and get rid of the vacuum servo and line. It only adds a little drag, and you lose 1-2 mpg (2 mpg at the most!!). No one has ever reported problems with anything else. It's a Dana 30 front diff, similar to the one on a CJ except for the independent rig. The half shafts are pretty standard -- same as some FWD units. An AWD endurance car sounds like a great idea! Instead of lower gears put some low profile 15 tires on it. The smaller diameter will have the same effect as lower gears, plus will lower the CG and make the car handle better.

I was gonna ask you, actually, if you know about Eagle 4WD hardware.
Reliability is my big concern, what to look for. Suspension is a worry
since the $$$ is so low. I have no stock of Eagle parts, but the rest of
the AMC stuff I know dead cold, or at least enough for this project.
