I've also located another builder that is offering S/C kits that clear XJ hoods for $3499 base price without fuel system equipment. 
  I may also consider a turbo setup at some point, though the visual of the supercharger appeals to me more.

Downside of belt driven blowers is that they
pump alot of heat into the engine - unless you
construct a manifold intercooler like Ford has.

They also hammer your bearings to death by
transferring in vibration thru the crank.
