Sometimes old tech is good enough to get'er done!
Stuff sounds a lot like what we got many years ago to rebuild a 196 in my 63 Classic.
Dad, dug thru the NOS stuff at Tewells ended up we bought iron rings and something else that I can't remember exactly what it was.
  The stuff we bought came from J.C. Whitney. We spent $22 to rering it! :]
Thats the engine I ended up overheating to get the rings to seat. We decided at the time they must have actually been chrome rings instead of the cast iron we ordered!
