Re: [Amc-list] Puff the Magic Wrambler

The issue is that this is a roots type supercharger that sits atop the intake.
The unit I have the chance to purchase is designed to go on a TJ. I'm pretty sure it will take a cowl hood to clear it. I wish this was anytime next month so I knew exactly what the surgeon either did or will do and what my recovery time or lack there of may be! Hard to believe we are talking 17 months of this and I'm still wondering.
Anyway, I haven't seen a source for a cowl hood for an American. If I don't recover paying labor rates to have one built would be quite expensive. If i can do it myself I can see in my minds eye what it would look like.
i would buy one of the steel cowl hood sections that are available, then remove the nose area of the americans hood where the original hood "ridge" turns into the inset for the "A" emblem. That way the square ridge could be removed instead of having it changing over to the single or no ridgeof the cowl hood. Yeah, if your wondering I can do all this if I take my time and am healthy.
What I would realy love to do would be to just install a S/Crambler hoodscoop on a stock hood. But the pulley of the Charger looks to be too high to clear the hood :[ One of the neat things of the Hesco designed charger is the throttle body sits directly above the valve cover at the rear of the engine facing forward. With a hoodscoop it would be awesomely easy to build a box to ram outside air into the TB.
As you can tell, I've been thinking of the "issues" with going forward with this. I may indeed be buying this supercharger. The hood is the main issue. I have plans in place for the trans and rear issues.
I don't currently have the ability to do the body work, don't think I can hold a spray gun or run a sander. The idea of running the car hoodless is unappealing. leaving the supercharger perched on top of the pile of unfinished other stuff even less appealing. Oh, I think I should indeed walk away from the checkbook, much as it pains me to do so.
Frank, As for changing the name to "Huff the magic Wrambler", well, there's no romance in that! Puff was a magic dragon, Huff leaves me seeing someone with paint flakes on their face, a spray can and a paper bag to "huff" the fumes from, nah. Puff it will stay!
