Tom,

Based on actually seeing and handling one of these
full flow pump/filter assemblies in my 65 Rambler I
think you could convert one to use a remote filter.  I
have an extra one if you want to give it a try.  It
came from a 65 L-head six and is somewhat corroded. 
The vertical tube which extends into the filter broke
off when I removed the filter.  The pump may be OK
internally though.  It's yours for the price of
postage.
