The 304 indeed did come with the Motorola. I have one in my '73 J4000 (even though the original motor was a 360, 304 was an option that year)

Is this with the Motorola alternator?  The bracket is a little different with the Delco or Motorcraft.  Although now that I say that, I'm not sure if those were ever used on the 304.
