I believe I've seen the fork truck reference for 9" clutches before too!
Maybe while I was researching T5 stuff as those guys have some issues getting 9" clutches 
to go between their original sixes and the T5 IIRC.
  While doing that research one guy mentioned a company in the mid west who builds discs
to spec. If you could find them they would build you a set ot rebuild yours.
  I like the idea of the 10" setup Andrew mentioned.
If you go that way, avoid holeshots as with the increased grip of the clutch you will probably frag 
the trans! with the 9" slipper clutch there is less chance of breakage!
  Did you see the homemade dual carb setup on evilbay?
I'm not sure when it closes or if it has I ran across it afew days back and forgot about it till now!
