Greg.... My Dodge truck has chrome overlays all around, and four wheel discs.  They crapped up in a hurry!  I tried everything on my shelf, AND the parts store shelf, and nothing cut through.  On the advice of an aquaitence, I cleaned the stuff off with 0000 steel wool, followed by a coat of wax.  it worked!  I suggested the same to my neighbor, with THREE of these Dodges w/chrome covered wheels.  Their truck wheels look like new, again.

I was a bit apprehensive to take steel wool to plastic overlays, but they didn't scratch, and they cleaned up like new.
