[Amc-list] generators

Hey anyone know much about the Delco Remy generators AMC used? I know how 
they work and can rebuild one (commutators and carbon brushes and all 
that).

Are there many different types? The American has a 30 amp model. Do mounts 
and pulleys vary much? Do internal parts (bearing/bushing, brushes) vary 
much?

Reason I'm asking is, I'm trying to chase up a spare, to pre-rebuild for 
when this one drops dead, as I assume it will. Regulator too. Wondering 
about how wide I can search for donors.

I know the "sensible" thing to do is dump it and stick in an alternator, 
but for some perverse reason I'd like to keep the gennie. Maybe 
hair-pulling maintenance will change my mind later.
