[Amc-list] Re; Tire Balance.

SNIP

When using a "static" (bubble) type balancer you should first set the

total amount of weight needed to balance the tire on the rim of the wheel.

Divide the weight into FOUR separate weights. Then move the two groups of

four weights to the 4 and 8 o'clock position on the wheel. Adjust the size

of the weights to get the tire to center the bubble.

By dividing the weights into 4 groups (to be mounted on the front and

rear of wheel) and positioning them at 4&8 o'clock you

are coming closest to achieving "Dynamic" balance by using the static

method.

You would be surprised at how many tires can be satisfactorily balanced

using this method.

But HEY,,, that's just ME,,,

Like I said, back in the day when spin balancing was more advertising hype
than functional I got pretty good at bubble balancing, its only been in the
last 15 or so years that I have seen spin balancing be better or at least as
good as I used to be able to do it, and with my Harbor Freight Bubble
balancer I do o.k. here in the garage. I still have a car that I can use a
bumper jack with to break beads loose and a couple of good tire irons to
worry the tires off with if I have to anyway and a rubber mallet that works
well putting them back on if I need it. I don't do it too often any more,
but it is nice to know that I still can.

Now if I can only figure out how to adapt nuclear power to all of this to
make it easier with out flagging hazmet the world would be good, or as an
alternative anyway maybe I can find that converter used on the time
traveling DeLorean that you threw freshly emptied beer cans into in order
to get power to my reproduction flux capacitor than I could be considered
not only automated but officially regarded as green too!
