Re: [Amc-list] 65 classic sending unit

If your pickup tube is good or can be cleaned, you can use a universal sending unit. I'm running one in my 63 Classic now. It's the one in this link:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10101/s-10101/p-100000162409/mediaCode-ZX/appId-100000162409/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:100000162409
You will need to remove the unit from the support and fasten it to the plate welded on your original pickup tube. It will register close to correct -- it depends on how you bend the float arm. Mine still has about four gallons in it when on empty and will only read 7/8 full, but that's good enough for me! I don't feel like taking the tank back out to adjust the float arm. You can run a ground wire from the tank to body, and maybe make an extension wire for the sending unit, and make the adjustments before you permanently install the tank if you want it to be more accurate.

any thoughts on if this unit would fit my 65 classic
tank or could be modified to fit easily? only $20, not
to bad...
