Re: [Amc-list] Rare Rambler???

There were 2520 Typhoon hardtops made. All were yellow with a black top and had the 232. After those were built the 232 became an option on other 64 Classics. The 232 and Typhoon came out in late April 1964. The 2520 were likely completed by the end of May at the latest (this is just a guess!). That would leave only one or two months of production where other models could get the 232, so few 64s were built with a 232. That makes it rather rare, but not a lot more valuable than other 64s, just more desirable. So it would sell faster and bring a little more money than a 196 powered car, but not a great deal more.

Rarity doesn't necessarily add value, popularity drives value more than anything else. If you have the last or only one left of something and no one wants it, what's it worth?? If you have one of 10,000 left and everyone wants one, it will be worth more than that one! But in the case of a real collector, they want to see it with the parts it left the factory with (or similar rebuilds) no matter the rarity.

I received an email from a user on this list, (I believe) who indicated that 64 Rambler's with a 232 where special edition and called Typhoons. I had heard of the Typhoon, but as he indicated, Typhoons where yellow and my care is red through and through. He was also very surprised to learn that my Rambler had the 232 Chrome logo on both front fenders.
He was surprised about this and believed that this was rare, but was not certain.
Was a non Typhoon, 1964 Rambler Classic 770 with 232 engine and the 232 logo on the front fenders rare?
