The miserable things are supposed to live on a flat black spring steel bracket 
screwed into the vertical sheet metal in front of the door, where the parking 
brake pedal goes. Sort of behind the parking brake assembly, way up high, 
precisely where you would put it if you were a sadist. pretty much impossible 
to find, or reach, without gouging your hand.

Most people leave them dangling by their wires under the dash after that.
