I'm not sure if I should reply to all or one person who replied. Anyways, as I was telling Frank, it has a 232 badge on the front fender so I'd always assumed it was a 232. My 63 parts car has a 196 I think, but I'm sure my 64 is a 232. My reason of wanting to swap is for power. If I get near 60-65 MPH, my engine is wrapped up tight. Just not any more push in it at that point.

Joe, check the local Home Depot or Lowe's. Bernz-O-Matic still sells a similar outfit. The disposable bottle should be the same -- they look a lot like the propane/MAPP bottles (have the same type valve connector) but are a different color.

came with a DOT Exempt Oxygen (disposable) cylinder
(3000 psi) that you can't find anymore.  Sears doesn't
have a part number for it either.

I did this very swap. It was in 1988 (I still have it) so fuzzy memory... but 
I distinctly recall my dismay on mounts not lining up! Note this was 
pre-internet, pre-AMC-list...

Even when I got the front x-member, I had to drill new holes in the pads to 
shift the biscuits fore or aft. That was not hard, I just used a 3/8" drive 
hand drill.

I have a 1970 232 in front of a M12 or is it M11 aluminum, air-cooled 
Borg-Warner transmission, and stock 6cyl torque tube drive. It's been 
entirely trouble free (oh yeah,except when I sheared off the pinion shaft! 
Believe me it wasn't from engine torque; it was a bad forging, there was a 
discoloration showing an old old crack...). The little trans, which I baby on 
mountain slopes, and get tuned up every year or two, lasted 18 years on the 
first rebuild, and is now on it's second. Wish I could put a cooler in it! 
This weekend, I'm putting a Summit mechanical water temp guage "on" it, by 
silicone-ing the sender to the side of the case. Should be good enough 
thermal coupling.

I can attest to that. My 67 American has a 199 and an automatic which 
makes it a slug around town. Once it's up near highway speed, it's 
actually okay. The 232 in my 68 American (which was not rebuilt to stock 
specs) with a 3 speed manual is a totally different beast. It's really 
torquey. However, I don't think you can rev the wee out of either of 
them when not in neutral. The 68 tops out at 85 mph and if memory serves 
(which means I'm probably wrong), that's not much over 4000 RPM. Both 
cars are great highway cruisers. They are both happy around 70 MPH and 
when I took the 68 to Kenosha in 2004, I'm not sure I did much slower 
than that until I got to Chicago.

I wonder what the factory used? The steering wheel on my 67 American is 
cast in red and dark green the wheel I bought off eBay a couple months 
ago was cast in black. The paint seems to have held up pretty well on both.

Here you go:

Model: 63 Classic 2 door sedan, 770 trim
Trim: 1963 deluxe red bench in vinyl (this trim is unique to 770's, 
likely fancier door panels and maybe seat patterns)
Paint: Classic Black with Frost White accent color (usually roof but may 
be other parts as well)

The number starting with E is the production sequence number. Your car 
was built in early November, 1962 (probably built on November 1st or 
2nd) and went down the east assembly line.

drop a 2WD Cherokee XJ fuel injected 4.0 with Aisin 4 speed
Automatic in - XJ tanks come with pump in tank on F.I. engines.

Cherokee XJ Renix motor or '96 - '99, - 

- find the 2wd trans. same way - put 'em
in the shed 'cause that what you want for Cruisn' to the Show ;)

Noticed this at the local PnP.  89 Isuzu Trooper - removable centre section like
a 9", disc brakes, and about 57-58" surface-to-surface. Lots of wheel studs too.

Yeah, I'll give it a third or forth.
My 63 with a 196 auto in both original aluminum and replacement cast iron versions cruised at 80 mph for hours on end. I was 17-18 and didn't know squat about it, but it was an automatic car and as long as you didn't try to punch it down into "passing" gear it just cruised happily along. At 80mph passing gear just made a whole lot of engine noise with no speed increase! 
   As for revving and dumping the clutch, well my 64 American had a 196 twinstick. In stock form the clutch wouldn't hold! It acted like a drag racing slipper clutch. Put both left and right feet on the floor and slip the left one off the clutch! The car would lift it's noise and move forward, never spun a tire! I seriously doubt, even with the power pack two barrel it would sport enough torque to do much tire turning. 
   Ah those were the days, no sense in saying I wish I'd kept those cars as hey, they were rusty in 78-79!
