The Bulltear mounts (http://www.bulltear.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=189) don't use the original AMC engine plates. The mount is similar to hotrod mounts. One side bolts to the engine, the other to the six cylinder perch. One fits inside the other with a bolt parallel to the engine passing horizontally through both pieces, connecting them. The bolt passes through a urethane bushing. These mounts will pass more vibration through to the chassis than stock mounts, but are a nice quick and easy solution. They aren't cheap at $180, but are well made and rugged. They are much stronger than a stock mount. Glavins reproduces the V-8 crossmember by cutting the sixcylinder perches off an original and welding new V-8 perches on. If you want stock mounts it's the way to go -- provided you can't find an original. -------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 13 Jun 2007 22:21:31 -0400 From: Matt Haas <mhaas@xxxxxxx> There's a company called Bulletear (or something similar to that) making adapter plates to mount a V8 on a 199/232/258 six cylinder cross member. I think it uses the more common size engine to mount brackets (that or they are making those as well). The rest of the parts (except for an American AMC-20) should be relatively easy to come by for a V8 conversion. Also, I think Galvin's (http://www.ramblerparts.com) can supply a cross member and brackets. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
