The speedometer driven gears (the ones on the cables) are the same. One 
thing you may run into is that the drive gear (the one inside the 
transmission) has a different number of teeth than what's in the car 
now. I don't know if those gears are the same or not but it would take 
some tranny surgery to find out.

One thing to make note of with the steering column swap is that 1967 - 
69 cars use a collapsible column that has brackets specifically designed 
to allow the column to collapse in an accident. I've never seen a 1966 
dash to know for sure but there may be differences in the dash where the 
column attaches.
