Re: [Amc-list] Lowering Block Kit?

Well, I took the plunge and I guess I am less than satisfied. After
calling the local Jeep 4x4 place and getting no where, I bought the
blocks at Autozone and made them work, although I suspect I will replace
them in the future with something else if I ever find it.

1) The pin/hole was too big. I had to file the pin down. I'm guessing
it was 9/16 and we need 1/2. I did not see a need to change the hole
tonight.
2) The U-bolts are for a wider axle and needed to be bent narrower and
shorted 2" (no big deal).
3) The block is actually too long, the ends do not support the spring
perch.
4) The spring perch is curved to match the spring, the block is flat.
I'm guessing this will compress over time, so I will have to tighten the
u-bolts occassionally. I guess I would have expected the perches to be
flat, so this was completely unexpected.

However, it is done for now at least, the ride height is what I wanted
with a 2" drop, the rear is 1/2" higher than the front. All for 25
bucks and 2 hours of time.
