[Amc-list] sticking valves

well, i got both the valves freed up today. about as
free as they will get for now. i orderd some lifters
saturday, suposed to be here tues. i need pushrods. 4
MINIMUM. i have yet to check the other 12 to see if
they are bent. not obvious, but if i can see any bend
to them at all, they are out. i want all new set just
to be safe. valvetrain is not somethin i see as tryin
to skim by on if at all possible. some CLP penetrant,
and a 5lb hand sledge, a big screwdriver pried along
the spring retainer to pry the valve back up. left the
penetrating oil there for a day and a half. worked it
around a lot this afternoon and got it freed up. the
intake ports are NASTY. does anyone know of any
additive for the fuel that can get rid of that stuff
that actually WORKS? once i get it running, i have a
can of engine flush to run thru it. change the oil,
probably run it for 100 miles or so and change it
again. do that a few times till it starts to look clean.
