Roger, you most likely have a broken spring not popping the latch open.
Sit sideways in the car and put your feet (or at least a foot) against
the door. Pull the door handle then push. It might take a good swift
kick, just don't kick hard enough to bend anything. You can kick it
pretty darned hard and not do any damage! Make sure the lock is in the
up position, of course. You've already soaked it in penetrating oil, so
there's not much more to do. You can't get to any screws with the door
closed. I've had one break a spring and get stuck shut before. I managed
to kick it open then replaced the lock mechanism. Good luck!
