Due to the continued trouble you've caused the AMC-List administrators we are informing our AOL clients to seek a different e-mail provider if they wish to continue our services. I appreciate the fact that AOL wishes to reduce spam and unsolicited e-mail -- I sometimes wish my own provider would do more. Even though we have complied with AOL policy as far as proving that we are a ligitimate mailing list that requires e-mail confirmation before allowing users to sign up, we continue to get totally meaningless bounce reports and abuse messages. 

It is all but impossible for anyone to mistakenly sign up to the AMC-List. When one signs up they are sent an e-mail to the address they signed in with. They must respond to that coded e-mail from that address. List messages are then sent to that address only. The only possible reason for bounces is that people sign onto the list then simply forget about it, decide they want off and forgot how to unsubscribe themselves, or change their address and don't unsubscribe the old address first (in which case there shouldn't be a complaint, just a bounced address). Instead of sending a message to the list owners or the list, they file list messages as "abuse" or "spam" and let AOL take care of the "problem". We cannot control idiots that find it easier to let AOL do their e-mail maintenance for them. If the AOL bounce messages would only include the address of the AOL member that is complaining we could unsubscribe that person and solve the problem. Instead we get a "redacted@redacte
 d.com"
 address which helps no one.

We do all we can. We don't like spam and unsolicited e-mail, and will be happy to help AOL keep their users happy -- within reason. AOLs outdated and draconian methods simply won't be tolerated any longer.
