Soapbox indeed. In 2001 WVU payed big bucks for a salary study for classified paygrade workers. It is now 2007 and that schedule has still not been implemented. Talk about some big time stupidity. Tell a worker how much he/she should be paid, the not pay them that! They give administration, incoming faculty respectable money becasue other wise they can't hire or keep them, but those of us on Staff aren't worth it or so it seems. At my current rate of pay and judging by the raises I have received since starting. I will actually reach the supposed starting point for my pay grade at the 7 YEAR point! Currently I am $4500 under the salary schedule. The good point is it allowed my to get the job. They asked for college graduates with 3-5 years experience. No-one with those qualifications applied!!! The job didn't pay enough, even here in Westvirginia! My co-worker likewise does not have the "required" college degree. We went to the school of hard work.
