best combo of strength and availability is probably a ford toploader.
with the c/r gears and 31 spline mainshaft they put it behind 429s.
for drag racing or maybe just around the street you could combine that
mainshaft with jeep t176 gears [3.52:1 1st] - good launch, good top
end.

it bolts to the engine with a stock late '70s t150 bell, and with ford
gears the whole t150 clutch/pilot/throwout setup; with jeep gears the
jeep parts.
