Yup, gotta reset that !!!#$$% switch in the combo valve.

Mine too (70 Hornet) creaks more than it ought to and it's all
new parts. I do have poly bushings in the spring perch -- the
"John Elle fix" -- not sure if that's it. (They are still in
place just fine 25K miles+ 2 years later though -- good fix!)

My strut bushing groan/squeak. They're stock replacements (Moog).

You could do what I did to diagnose -- not fix -- squirt with
a penetrating spray like silicone or even WD40 and see if it
shuts up.

My Rambler's gor hand-made urethane strut bushings and they
groan. If I jack it up and loosen, and fill with grease, they're
silent for a while.  They did get a lot quieter after 6+ months;
I think the groaning surfaces wear in.
