I don't think so!! Suicide rears MIGHT be nice, but wouldn't look good
on a 63-66 Classic -- not enough vertical door over the wheel well.
Maybe a 50s Nash if I get one for a limo...

I never have cared for the lambo/scissor/whatever doors. Lots of flash,
no practicality. Admit it -- a Rambler is a practical car, no place for
such nonsense! Leave it for the Javelins...

Almost any later AMC or Jeep CJ radiator will fit. If you're thinking
about a used radiator, all will be 20+ years old -- newest is a 88 Eagle
and those will be rare in junkyards -- few made. You will likely have to
move the mounting brackets, or swap the brackets from the old radiator
to the new. IIRC the 59 has a large tank on top, so you may need to
modify the brackets to fit a later radiator. You might need to move some
bolt holes (I'd drill the bracket before the sheet metal on the car),
but it should fit the opening fine.

Before you try a different radiator, call a local radiator shop and ask
about recoring the one you have. Usually costs about the same as a
replacement radiator, but a replacement isn't available. That way you
have the original tanks and brackets. A core should be available for it,
but may not be. All new model radiators are throw-aways if they start
leaking.

I didn't even look! The thought of lambo doors on a Rambler just made me shudder!

We have a 1977 AMC Gremlin (not sure if it is Gremlin X or not, we were told it was). We are looking for a front facia piece, a grill, the piece that goes behind the driver's headlight and a driver;s side hood hinge. If you have any of these parts or have any idea were we could locate them it would be of great help. We can be contacted via phone at 512-351-8691 or email at danaerice@xxxxxxxxxx

Thank You, Daniel Rice

Sweet! What sort of hacking did it take? Just adaptin side
brackets, or cutting sheetmetal?

You have the aluminum six, right? That might even help galvonomic
corrosion issues.

Do you remember the part number?

Today I was reglueing the rear window trim on my 77
Gremlin. If you recall in 1977 AMC restyled the rear
of the Gremlin and made the rear window larger, but
they put a thin metal band of trim around the window.
Evidently the adhesive was not good because I have
seen a service bulletin with instructions to re-glue
it when loose.

Anyway mine had been reglued in the past, probably by
a previous owner with silione sealant which had since
failed. Sloppy job too.

To properly clamp the trim for re-glueing I had to
first remove the window. But there are unusual
carriage type bolts with flat heads and three
indentations which requre a special wrench. After
struggling with pliers awhile and teaching the
neighbors dog some new words, I retreated and took a
short nap. Then I got the idea to cut a slot in the
shaft of the bolt and hold it with a screwdriver while
I removed the nut (similar to an upper shock absorber
removal procedure). Out came the dremel and I cut the
tiny slot. Then after removing the window and using a
single edged razor blade to remove much of the
silicone on the glass, there was a thin layer of old
adhesive, like tape that the razor blade wouldn't
budge. Besides there was adhesive on the under side
of the metal trim pieces. So I put a tiny wire wheel
on the Dremel and removed the adhesive from both
surfaces with no problem.

It sure helps to have the right tools.
And when doing fine work, a Dremel is often the right
tool.

Have you hugged your Dremel today?

Hello ,
I have a SC/Rambler and the brake light is constantly on ( I know I could unplug it-or tape over the light) . Do you have or know where I could get a brake proportional valve or can they be opened and repaired. I recalled reading something about a repair kit. The brakes do feel a little biased to the front. Any help would be great. Keep up the humor, I had people at work crying over that Black beauty AMX partout on Ebay.
 Thanks Artie Foley

Pre-orders are now being accepted for a 1/18 scale Machine, available in RWB, or Red. Release date is scheduled for February. At $24.95, it looks really good. When mine gets here, I can advise as to the quality, unless someone here gets one first, of course!
