A: There are quite a few people on the 4 wheeler boards who use Dodges with 
Cummins to tow their offroad rigs around and with some mods to the computer 
controls, they are getting nearly 750 HP naturally aspirated and 1,000 HP 
with turbo. Exhaust temps are watched carefully and many have pushed into 
the 1800 degree range.

that's the cummins b5.9, the heaviest-duty engine available in an
under-10000lb vehicle afaik - it's rated for service in 66000lb
trucks.  the powerstroke was only rated for 35000 lbs.

i think it'd take more than 'some mods' to make 750hp.  the most
powerful stock b5.9 is only 350, and iirc the dodge version is
something like 275.  there are some nasty diesel rodders out there
though.

Those power adder companies don't mention how overdoing it costs 20,000 for a
new engine after you take out the bearings or rings or such.

The advice given 
 
is certainly pertinent such as removing the striker, insuring that the
hinges are in repaired and sound condition etc. however there is one
more method that I have used regularly when adjusting door fit and that
is to use a floor jack and a piece of wood under the door to support the
weight of the door while I balance it and tighten the mounting bolts. 
This is a job that is easier done with two people but lacking the second
set of hands and a good back the floor jack does all of the lifting with
the only requirement on my part being to balance the door so that it
does not tip. I place the jack on the trailing edge of the door and it
is only partially open, usually just enough so that I can get what ever
wrench I am using on the hinge mounting bolts in question. If have ever
done a Pacer door, that can and will redefine the term "heavy". 
If all else fails and it determined that you have to "reform" the door
by "racking" or "bending" it and I have seen the case where it was
required. This can be done by adjusting the bottom edge front and rear
correctly as possible and then opening the door and inserting a piece of
2 x 4 between the bottom edge and the door sill you can push in at the
top back edge and get some give in the door if required. This is not
something done with out some serious thought though as a little can go a
long ways toward screwing things up completely.

I think some models will at least partially block the flow. Probably
not enough ot affect braking though. I've looked at the cut-away
diagrams, haven't physically taken one apart. There were some changes
in the designs over the years, so one range of years might block flow
when tripped and some may not move over far enough. That's why I put in 
the "or at least cut it way down", but should have stated "at least
some years will at least partially obstruct the flow", or something
similar. I don't recall if it was early or late models that had the
valves that at least appeared to block the flow when tripped. More
likely late model disc brake valves. I know the old drum brake valves
won't block the flow.

On forged steel cranks you can usually see a parting line where the two 
dies come together. You can't on a cast crank, though other cast parts
sometimes have  a "ragged edge" where casting flash is left. I'm pretty 
sure the machining operations remove all the flash on a cast crank
though.
