Hmmm... no one ever said anything about longer pushrods when I had mine 
reground! Wait a minute... that's because the 196 has adjustable
rockers! 0.10" doesn't make enough difference with that engine to
require longer pushrods, plenty adjustment for it. 

You had me going for just a minute! I bent a pushrod when one came
loose due to a stuck valve. Thethought ran through my mind that may
have been the problem, but then I remember I ran that engine with the
cam for 4-5 years with no problems until I parked it for four months
awaiting time and weather for a rear end bearing replacement.
