Re: [AMC-List] t-5 into my 62 classic

You'll almost definitely need an S-10 tailhousing. Keep in mind it's not really a GM part! It was made by Borgwarner and sold to GM :] The Inliners website has a story on the swap Or Bruce Coultre at Modern Driveline can build you one ready to go.
The AMC tailshaft may also clear the bench seat, but they are hard to find.
Ram is still a good choice for clutches AFAIK. Centerforce has been getting a bad rap lately. For a clutch setup the news I have heard is ask for a clutch for a 77 jeep CJ with a 3 speed and your good to go! I looked on up and it comes out to either a 10.4 or 10.5" depending on clutch manufacturer and 10 X 1 1/16" spline, should be right on the money!
Now for doing all this as a bolt in. keep in mind, even if you pull this off you will have a whole bunch of drilled holes and likey need ot weld them all up to return to stock and if you like the result you will likely never return to stock. Value will vary,, but,, todays market values the unique modified cars as much or more as the unique stock cars. Build what you want!

IN THE MEAN TIME...

(pukes at the thought of that gm part goin into the rambler) also, there has been a thought of notching the front seats out just a little of the frames to make room for a regular mustang shifter, putting it right there close by.
