Hollander doesn't mention anything about Jeep springs for the Eagle. :(

The last time I had my 67 American out, I noticed the fuel and temperature
gauges were acting up (mostly reading low but the needles also fluctuate
and sometimes they drop to zero for a few moments). I haven't checked the
dash ground yet but since the lights act normally, I suspect that my
voltage regulator is on it's way out. I know I can handle replacing the
voltage regulator with something solid state but I'd really like to get the
gauge faces cleaned up and the needles repainted. Who have people used to
do this type of work and what did it cost?

Thanks,

Matt

On my way to TG dinner in BC, I spotted a red and white Ambassador (@'66
vintage) for sale and so did my wife. Turns out it's an AMC she actually
likes the looks of! So we may be getting rid of her '01 Legacy L 4 dr sedan
and getting something I can still work on! (she's been miffed because my 1
ton truck costs less to fill and goes farther than her 'Bru on a tank
because it runs LPG)
That 327 in my garage may have come into my possession for a purpose
after all! (I couldn't see the engine size emblems as it was kind of dark
when we came back past at 9:30 and I have to work in the AM)
Any pointers on things to look out for? Common rust spots? (I haven't had
a big Rambler since I got rid of my first wife almost 20 years ago!)

Tonight when I dropped my son off in Abbotsford, BC (on our way home from TG
dinner in Chilliwack) I was waiting at a Y intersection traffic light and I
heard a familiar AMC 6 cyl "VROOOM!" and a gold color Eagle sedan whizzed
through the lights, almost on two wheels with someone in a soupcan Honda not
far behind (but he wasn't gaining!)

On my way to LaGrange, IL, Chicago area for those that aren't
familiar, I was passed by an SX/4 with Colorado plates. I
thought at first it was a Spirit. Narrow rims made the car look
a little odd at that altitude. I got up close enough to make a
positive ID, fancy lingo for I read the side of the car, and
sure enough it was an Eagle. Then I backed off a bit and
noticed the almost six inch tall SX/4 on the lower part of the
door. Oops, guess I was just excited to see an AMC on the road.
I should have driven the Hornet, but instead I was in the
Mountaineer with the wife, an old TV, groceries and the dog in
her kennel. Maybe that was why I didn't drive the Hornet.

If it was someone on the list, sing out! I was the crazy guy in
the dark blue Mountaineer. :-)

Jack

Will's email bounced a bit, but I thought I'd mention he could also use a
4.0L in the Matador (if the Ambassador I'm looking at is a 6 cyl, I just
might have to put a stroker or 4.0L into it for LPG running! Probably easier
than swapping in the 327 I already have if it's not V8!)

Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for a decent running 258 six cylinder to put
into a 74
Matador that I'm considering purchasing. The car has a bad
connecting
rod, so I could probably swap over the accessories... maybe the
cylinder head too? I just wanted to check to see if any members
within
a few hours drive of New York City have a 258 for sale that
would help
me to put together a blindingly slow Matador.

Will,

You need to talk to Doc. He's in Yonkers, NY, and has a 258 he's giving away
for free. His email is AMC74HORNET@xxxxxxxxxx
