Dave,

I don't have a 1971 TSM but the 1972 TSM lists the
initial timing for the 401 (with 8.5:1 compression
ratio) as 5 degress BTDC for both manual and automatic
transmissions. Total timing (cent for vacuum) should
be 34 to 42 degrees and should be all in by 2000 rpm.

The third NorCal AMCs Car Club Newsletter of the year. Things are busy
around here and I just can't seem to get these darn things out in a timely
manner. The file is about 6 Mbs so if you don't' have high-speed internet
access, I suggest you pass on trying to open this URL.

Looking to see if someone is interested in moving a 65 American located in bradford ma; that's part of haverhill, on the nh border ~15 mi from the coast.
Car is on wheels, tires are flat and may not hold air, non running will need winched onto trailer. I'm trying to see if I can get this car moved to Morgantown, WestVirginia or Western or Southern Pa area for pickup by me.
The car is destined for the Junkyard if someone doesn't save it. Not looking for Charity, but I'm not rich either!
Anyone interested? I doubt a commercial hauler will touch it as it will need some work to load it and I can't do anything in my current condition. Plus it is too far away.

Brien
If'n I had to guess, they might be the same as the Spirit and SX4. If
that is the case, they are unique to the body style as the bumpers
are different on the other cars. So it would be that the shape is
different.

Now if we can figure all of this out, I need a right side (passenger
side) bumper extensions for my 1980 SPIRIT both front and back. The
sun finally rotted them -

I searched Arcticboy for some good pictures of the rear
SX/4 bumper ends > didn't find any you could make
a decision from > more interenet searching today.

I sent eMails to everyone on PlanetHoustonAMX.coms'
Vendor list - of which a great many came back undeliverable -
if you're a Vendor - please update your eMail contacts there -
I forwarded Ed all those returned to me - close to Ten -
including those of some of our most noted AMC Vendors.

eMail is the most used method of inquiry - don't lose sales !

John needs the Spirit passenger side bumper ends -
I need the rear bumper ends - Kammback.

Any leads appreciated !

A: Did you check the cable is turning? The gear(s) inside the trans may be
shot. (there is a drive gear and a driven gear) Are they on an eccentric
like the later Mopar trannies? If so, you have to count the number of teeth
and rotate the "plug" that goes into the trans so the arrow (on the housing)
is facing the correct number range.

Some time ago Frank suggested that maybe the problem with my
speedo was that it was being turned in reverse. I tend to
believe it as I know the tranny is not original to the car, and
the old cable had the tranny end hose clamped together. I always
thought it was clamped because someone wanted to shorten it. I
threw away the old cable. I have a new cable, it went in just
fine, but neither of the heads that I have seem to work. Does
anyone have any more thoughts on this and or some parts for
sale?
Also, I purchased an under dash AC system for this car. I think
I am going to have to find a way to mount the Power steering
pump elswhere, as I think the compressor goes where it is. This
is the 232 motor.
Does anyone have any thoughts and or parts for sale concerning
this?
Thank everyone for all their help with this, and in the past!
