[AMC-List] Gremmie Brakes

At the risk of getting more criticism from Doc I'll
report a little more progress on the Gremlin rear
brake job.

I got the new drums from Rockauto.com this week.  One
was made in Canada and the other did not have Canada
cast into it, so I assume U.S.  Who knows any more? 
They were both nearly identical to the 77 Gremlin
drums I'm throwing away, except for no bolt holes to
hold the drum on the hub.  Don't need those anyway.
They were both Raybestos drums.  There was a speed nut
on one lug when I took the wheels off, to replace the
previous bolts anyway.

When I compared the new Raybestos shoes to the old
shoes I noticed that both shoes have friction material
the same length down the shoe.  The old shoes have a
shorter length of lining on the primary shoe.  I took
the shoes back to Kragens where I got them and the
counter lady, who has been there awhile said Raybestos
was doing that commonly now, making the linings equal
on both the primary and secondary shoes.  She checked
the part number and it was correct for a 77 Gremlin.

I hope this doesn't adversely affect the braking. 
Seems like more lining material in the same size drum
would be a good thing, but what do I know?

I cleaned the drums with brake cleaner and gave the
outside of both drums a light coat of heat resistant
flat black paint.  I'm off to the parts store to get
more brake cleaner now and finish the job.
