a dark spot. Now as standard equipment I carry a gallon of gas in the
trunk waiting to run the tank dry. I need to take a look at the fuel
gage sending unit anyway so I'll take the tank down and hopefully do
the repair right. It has been recommended that I use a tank sealer.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Yes! Go to www.hirschauto.com and get some of their sealer and cleaner.
I've used it several times and it's some of the best made, and easy to
use. You obviously have a pin hole in the "sweating" area. This sealer
is made to deal exactly with that sort of thing. You have to remove the
tank to seal it, of course.

The sending unit has windings around a slide. The windings are
apparently broke on yours. The only fix is a new sending unit. Most AMC
vendors should be able to supply you with one. If not, a universal unit
can be modified to fit the original mounting plate. Takes a bit of
work, but I've done it.

I don't think the "newer" (mid 70s) AM radios have an adjustment. I
know the older ones have a screw on the back. You almost always had to
take the radio out of the dash to find and adjust the screw.
