In an attempt to salvage as many of the original parts as I can, I'm trying to dismantle the bucket seats. The shop manual is vague on the subject. A suggestion on removing the seat back from the bottom frame, or pointing me to a good "exploded view" of a bucket seat assembly would be appreciated.
Thank you to those who responded to my last quest.

Kenny

Timing>
When we time this engine (4.0), the timing light says that we are at
60
degrees total advance. Pulling the timing back to 30 degrees
total...and
the
engine will not run.

We are starting at TDC on the compression stroke. We follow the
instructions that place the rotor button on number one terminal on the
distributor cap.
The headers are glowing cherry red.

What are we doing wrong or can you please give me the correct sequence
to
time this thing?
-------------------------------------------------

Ed, I'm assuming you're running a 4.0L block and possibly head, but
using a carburetor and standard distributor? Did you use the 4.0L timing
cover or the 258? I'm not sure the timng marks will line up correctly
unless you use the timing cover for the balancer you used (258 timing
cover and balancer will work). That said, forget about the timing light
and try timing "by ear". Once the car is running just turn the
distributor until it appears to run smooth. Take it out and run it. If
it pings, retard timing. If it doesn't, try turning it up a little.

The headers glowing might be from a rich condition, not timing.
