Justine; driving a new-to-you car cross country is not for everyone, especially those feint of heart. You don't know for sure what lies in the road ahead for you. I gave a guy in Nor Cal the same idea about a 67 rebel wagon that I knew of here in Salem. He showed up by way of Greyhound with a tool box, cell phone and dough in hand. He also brought his son along. They bought the car and headed South. Last I heard they made it. I did this with a 64 Fairlane some years ago, but without the cell phone (still don't have one). I did bring along my 10-speed, though! Just in case, ya know. The drive back gave me a chance to write down all the quirks and noises, and get into kind of a strange zen state, driving a strange car, unknown to me, across the Oregon desert. Yeah, it broke down in the middle of nowhere. I did a little campin', met a hippy chick who gave me a puppy, a taste for cottage cheese and pears and some memories. I got back to Salem about 4 days later. Camped out for 3 days while I fixed a wheel cylinder supporting the car on the water cooler. Would I do it again, you bet, in a NY minute......Russ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
