The CJ-7 water pump should be shorter. I'm not sure how much so though. Cutting the shaft and pressingthe hub back can be done, but it's tricky to do without cracking/bending the impeller. Then you still have the chore of finding a pulley that will work. Diameter isn't a big issue, but getting it at just the right depth will be.
