Manual Choke Repair

Just another little pain in the ass thing I have to fix. The hole on the
plastic choke housing cover that the shaft passes through is so big that
the shaft wobbles unbelievably and all of a sudden it will not allow the
choke to fully open. It's almost brand new and came that way. It worked
properly for 3-4 months. What a piece of crap. I had a brass bushing
made last week for 25$ to fit the shaft and drilled out the plastic
housing to install it with some Super Glue Gel. I also had to make up
some special thickness shim washers to eliminate the shaft end play. I
wonder if this 12$ piece of crap is from China? I also think the arm
that is attached to the shaft might have moved making the cable trying
to release the choke is now over center. I hate them automatic chokes on
those Carter carbs and have had a manual one on my other Hornet for 30
years. First on the Carter and then on the Holley Economaster that is on
it now.
