Good AMC day at the AACA flea, hey hey...

After missing this Maryland event 5 YEARS in a row
due to my job interfering, not having a job finally
let me attend this event. LOL. Was a fairly small Auto
flea affair, maybe 200 yards long, 75 yards wide, but
had a pretty good crowd of old cars and vendors. I
found some pretty good stuff there, both old Chevy
truck and AMC auto literature.
Not much in AMC parts, really none, but did find
alot of AMC reference material, a huge oversize
CHilton's wiring diagram book, about 20 x 14 inches in
size. Has AMC represented from 68 to 76, Javelin to
Gremlin and Matador. Full page diagrams. Has all the
other makes as well, Dodge, Ford, Chevy, etc. $20.
Next, found a guy with boxes full of old Motor Flat
Rate and Labor manuals, one goes back into the '30s
with Nash and Hudson stuff. I bought a box of 7 of
them, up thru the '60's, as I don't have much of that
era due to cost, and I paid only $3 each for a book
that would be Carlisle-priced at $20 easily.
Another guy had boxes of old hot rod mags, from '50's
thru '70s', all at .25 cents each, or 5/$1. I found
numerous ones with some AMC content, so those were
nice, found the Cars and Parts with Teague's '71 AMX
prototype in it. 2-page color photo article. Others
had Gremlin and Machine articles.
Into a building, found a Chrysler / AMC Collision
parts guide and another Flat Rate manual with more
modern AMC stuff, and next table over, 4 owners
manuals, all '79 AMC. Cheap.
By now, my arms were trembling, as I'd made 3 trips
back to take various books, that one with 7 made me
pant. LOL. Searched the whole fairgrounds, but no AMC
parts to be found anywhere. I eventually bought some
'55 Chevy truck grill and front end parts I needed for
a very old project <sic>, cheap as well.
So, for about 3 hours of my time, I'd spent about
$100, and come away with some good deals and fine
reference materials. I took some pics of the cars,
there were projects and nice rods and customs, some
Model T's and A's, pretty nice spread from '20's to
'70s. A beautiful day, too!
On the drive back, I stopped at a used book store I'd
seen on the drive up, and found a Train book on
Freight trains, and one big picture has an AMC Matador
coupe in it, red, just visible in the parking lot
behind the train.
SO, all in all, a wonderful day to spend outside. Now
I need to go work on my Chevy van, and upgrade some
items on it. AMC ya later,

Jerry in Virginia
