Re: AMbo Crossmemebrs in an AMX

Weird? Who's driving a blue flamed Rambler wagon?
You call me weird! I Resemble that, er,resent, yeah I meant to say resent, where did that resemble word come from? :] LOL!!!
I've had this idea since I towed the convertible home. I doubt I will ever have the time to construct such a beast, but still think the idea has merit. Long wheel based Classic, Ride of the Ambassador no stacked headlights. I could actually do it to the Convertible, if I had a Classic front clip to work with. I have classic quarters I'm going to use for patch panels so the tail would be easy.
Anyone want to donate a 65 - 66 Classic front clip :] I need from the shock towers forward on the inner fenders frame and core support All exterior sheet metal and Grill, bumper etc: Anyone know where i can get a whole rusty Classi that would work for this?
I have to put wallpaper border up in my sons room this morning, Hoping to get back to work on the firewall of the convertible this afternoon after a couple of weeks of not being able to get to it at all :[. I spent several hours trying to pull the exhaust maniflds off the jeep 327. Got the right one off O.K but the left broke, crap., It was rusted onto the studs that remained after two bolt heads snapped off. I heated it to cherry red and soaked it repeatedly with PBblaster, thought it was coming off. Had it worked away from the head about 1/16" when it gave up the ghost and broke in half. I had the pair sold too, rats $75 down the crapper! Still have the good right manifold though.

Won't work. The extension of the Classic is all between the firewall and wheel
centerline -- the wheelbase is longer. There is very little (if any) extension
in front of the wheels.

Wait a minute... okay, now I see where you're going with this -- I think. You
mean take the front clip off a Classic and stick it on an Ambo, but leave the
Ambo wheelbase alone. Alter the wheel cut-out on the Classic fenders to look
factory though.

All I can say is that's one of the weirdest ideas I've heard in a long time!
