Here's a former '71 Trans Am Javelin that has been turned into a very
potent drag racer:
http://www.upmpg.com/racing/rare_breed/index.htm
He has only recently started working out the bugs in it for drag
racing, but so far the numbers have been impressive.
The owner's name is Richard Giddens and he told me that it was one of
5 Trans AM cars and only 2 have survived to date. Had he known this,
he would not have converted it into a drag racer.
I was impressed with the cylinder heads done by Herman Lewis. This
engine sports 2 1050 CFM Holley Dominators.
One more little detail. This car has a lot of fiberglass, which is to
be expected as a former Trans Am car. But the Firewall is also
fiberglass. It strikes me that a fiberglass Firewall is next to
having no firewall at all. Was this legal? Or is this an example of
the cheating I have been told racing teams do?

Found this on:

Claims to be one of the 5 Trans Am Javelin cars -
didn't know it was before 'Drag-Racing' the vehicle.
How could that be - the paint alone is a 'Q' -
forget about 'Records' of the cars past.
Perhaps said this to blunt the criticism about
destroying a Trans Am car to create this
work of art...
Interesting if not dismal story.
