I mentioned this earlier but it is worth mentioning again. Someone has figured out how to write script into their auctions. That is, you click on something you see you might be interested in, then a real looking ebay screen pops up asking for your user ID and password. you figure hey, I'm on ebay so put it in. Guess what? you just gave away your information to scammers, who then quickly turn around and start these auctions! I have bid over $100 million in the last several days on some fine iron including a Pierce Arrow, Javelin and well a BBG AMX today for $9 mil. But it was the Mopar that intrigued me. So I used Paige's email account. you will note that all these scammers want you to email them first before bidding. That is to capture your email address, as once ebay shuts them down, you will get something like I did on this 69 hemi Charger. Note I DID "follow the scammers instructions" and email them directly off ebay so "I could be pre approved" to bid! My experienced Dodge tech has fully checked out this car and gives it a special high rating has a CLEAR and CLEAN TITLE a great history and mechanically without any problems ever safety check and pre-delivery inspection along with a fresh servicing before I ship or deliver the vehicle. The problem is that in the meanwhile I had to move with my family in Croatia where I got a new job as a construction engineer. I brought the car here with me with the intention of driving it but when I found out about the very high import duties and all the restrictions regarding registration and emissions tests here I have made up my mind and decided to sell the vehicle. The amount you will have to pay for this vehicle is $6,000.I can deliver the car but that you will cost you a little bit more depending on your location! Let me know if you are still interested. Regards, Sean ================================= Looks innocent enough, however a $80,000 car for $6000. I may not be the smartest stck of hammers at Home Depot but something fishy. So I decicded to email them back again off Paige's email acting interested. I'll let ya'll know how it comes out. They don't need to be all THAT tight... the studs/nuts are in shear, eg. the torque is sideways to the stud, so they only have to be tight enough to grip the wheel to the drum/spindle with enough force to overcome elasticity in the stud and wheels. I use an 18" breakerbar, 6" extention and socket. With my hand on the extention, I tighten it "one hand tight". Probably 50 - 75 ft/lbs. I keep the studs lubed too so they sping down with my fingers. Squeaking rusty lugnuts make me crazy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6 Message:0006 6 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Message-ID: <BAY106-F198D6409D85C86AFC36AC8DDF50@xxxxxxx> From: "Richard Estermyer" <javelinman74@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Toy Auction(s) II Date: Wed, 01 Mar 2006 19:52:56 -0500 Hey Gang, No response to the complete auction of leftovers, so I relisted them in catagories. 98 AMC toys http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7011905698 45 Jeeps 25 VW's and 20 something of misc cars. just click on other auctions of mine if interested. There may be cases where some of these newer products are used in production too, though. > Now, no one cares that AMC tried hard to repeat its -earlier- success, http://mclellansautomotive.com/photos/H3309.jpg or that it spent -heavily- trying to launch some of its later product. No one cares that some at the end still were planning its future. No AMC Allure, the '88 coupe that was to have been based on the '87 (then, '88, "American Motors Corporation" ["Built by Chrysler"]) Premier, was designed for AMC's return to NASCAR -- to run just as restrictor plates were new, when Junior's Dad won just $739,175 (and McGriff just took a $5,960 bite), when "brick" could've meant either a racecar or a racetrack paving stone. Was it an error that a Medallion pamphlet showed up in the McClellan's link instead of a Premier? I would think so, but maybe not. Both cars were really hindered by the Renault connection -- the Medallion was of course a Renault, and the Premier used many Renault parts. The American public isn't all that car knowledgeable in general, but it's hard to sell them something when they know the parent company has flown the coop! Even though it was well publicized that the Premier would be areound a few years, everyone knew it was just a matter of time, and resale values would be low when it came time to trade or sell. If Renault had hung in there AMC may be more like Nissan today than a memory. It would still have a French accent because there was little saleable AMC product left by the time Renault took over, but there would have been some new "blend" products similar in concept to the Premier. At least that was the promise. And marketing just may have convinced them to dub the A! lpine the AMX/4 -- at least the Americanized version. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Independent Magazine" (AIM) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12 Message:0012 12 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Message-ID: <44064CE2.7040107@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 01 Mar 2006 17:39:46 -0800 From: C D Patterson <cdp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: mail Digest for 1 Mar 2006 entry On 01/03/2006 mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx with quill in hand, scribed: > From: "Mahoney, John" <JMahoney@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > > >>> >>In some cases a stick on paper mask is made, but that's rare. >>> > > But more common now than when new AMC Hornets were sprayed... > > http://tinyurl.com/qmbnu > > > Now it's March and February, 2006 is already just history. > > So no one remembered what happened on February 28, 1986? > > And no one remembered what happened on February 6, 1964? > > What happened in January and February, 1954? > > What AMC history happened, why, and when?=20 > > What might have happened to Reo Motors? > > This really must be the zombie zone. > > Bones can be heard to rattle. > > White ghosts fly around. =20 > > Now we believe it. > > AMC is dead. > > Or are we? > > > > Not all of us? Sadly, this guy really thinks I am interested in that hemi Dodge Charger for uh, $6800. As mentioned before, here is the reply from the scammer ebay auction: =============================================== Hi again Paige, The car is currently located in Zagreb (Croatia). As I said in my first email I brought the car to Croatia with the intention of driving it here, however I wasn't able to register it since I am supposed to pay huge fees to make it legal for European streets and also have to start an individual procedure for the car through the croatian government and i really can't afford these expenses right now. The car is mint from front to rear it has been garage kept all the time including at the present time, adult driven, never been raced or wrecked. If delivered, you will get the car to the nearest port in your area and then it will be trucked forward to your place. Shipping takes maximum 10 to 12 days depending on your location, it's fully insured against damages and the car gets shipped in a crated container. Total price of the car including shipping costs and insurance all the way to your place is $6,800. Here are a few words on how the deal will be handled: the transaction will go through eBay Motors where I have a purchase protection account of $20,000.They will take care of the financial part by holding the funds until you will get the car and give your acceptance for it. You will have a 3 days period for inspecting the vehicle. At the end of this period you will have to notify eBay with the result of your inspection so I can get my money. In order to start all the arrangements with eBay I will need buyer's full name, phone # and shipping address. I have a few guys interested so I will need a prompt answer from you! Respectfully, Sean Paige Stakes wrote: Hi yes I am still interested in the vehicle, the Charger, if it is still for sale.
