if that '77 grem has an auto or sr4, you could swap an amc 4 in pretty
easily. the motor mounts are pretty far forward on the block and i
wouldn't be surprised if they're in the same place as the six's,
though i don't actually know.

for the sr4, you'd also need a bellhousing from an amc-4 jeep with a
t4 or t5. come to think of it, this also might work with the grem t150
if amc-4 jeeps were ever available with the t176. a '94-5 gm s-10 2.8
bell might also work.

for an auto you'd need the tranny from an amc-4 jeep, like a wrangler,
and you'd probably have to swap it back to 2wd with the tailshaft bits
from your grem's tranny.

if you do a lot of highway driving and the grem has a 3sp, an iron
cased side shifter overdrive toploader from a ford granada or i think
also pickup is a straight swap length and spline wise. it obviously
won't work with a column shifter.

likewise, the sr4 could be swapped for a t5 almost as easily.

" A 4.0 in a Gremlin or Eagle would be awesome at that point.

if you can keep your foot out of it [;^>] the 4.0 would also give you
better mileage...
