Yes, there is a difference -- but only for 1961 and earlier engines. For 62 and later the crank flange is the same for auto or manual. You should be able to use any manual trans crank for the 62 and later auto trans also. I know I used a 61 L-head standard trans crank in my 63 auto engine with no problems. You may have to change the pilot bushing is all. I've only seen one of the early cranks with the "nub" in the center. I was told it was a 61, but I was thinking it was for the old Hydramatic trans at the time and was probably earlier. That's why I posted earlier it shouldn't be a difference and that all BW autos were the same. I was wrong! I've got a 60-65 parts book. It confirms: 63 and later use the same crank WST and WAT ("with standard transmission" and "with automatic transmission"). -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Independent Magazine" (AIM) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!) -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Brenden Hyde <rambler@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Frank: > > I'm contacting you off-line in case I'm very wrong about this: I > thought there was a difference on the cranks for auto vs manual > trans.
