Re: RE:T5 input question and Camaro gears

I think the 1/2" shorter shaft will work as you suggested earlier, provided there is enough clearance between the clutch disc hub and the extended pilot bushing. If the bushing can extend out 1/4" I think you're good to go as long as the tip is arond 1/4" in the actual crank hole. If not, I'd go with your idea about using a larger diameter busing with a shoulder that will press in the crank.

On a Ford it is 10 spline and 9 1/4" long. On an AMC it is 10 spline and 9 5/16" long. The only difference in the Ford to AMC is the gear count inside the case and the fact that Ford uses a 1 1/16" diameter shaft and AMC uses a 1 1/8" shaft. Plus that 1/16" in length.

The Ford non world class is a snype hunt to find, disscontinued, and $125 if it actualy exists in the places I have found it listed. The replacement is to use the World class input from an early Motorsport trans. $125+$13 for the World class synchro ring needed to use it in the early trans. You can see that there is a good $80 savings in going with the Camaro input. But again will the 1/2" shorter input actualy work? Or will I end up pulling my hair out and buying the Ford input anyway.
