I'm hoping the weather holds and gives me a break. I really want to get the Ambassador inside so I can get started on it! The first task will be to get the shortblock out of it and get the engine compartment cleaned up.
I figure I'll get the cowl rust and the few spots in the engine compartment done up then move to the floors. IIRC they are actually in real good shape. The worst is the cowl around the wiper motor and the firewall corners, both typical rust areas. I figure to pull the dash and do this one right the first time. No redos. I am still trying to decide about how to do the dash. I want the A/C vents in place, but with the convert I don't think I want the A/C. So I'm thinking of looking into mounting the box up empty and using the vents as, well you know, vents! I have to start looking into finishes as I think the low gloss black will be the final finish. I keep my project cars inside, so I'm thinking of just doing it in a DP-90 type primer and leaving it. That way if it is sold and the new owner wants paint he can start with a good base.
I just hope I live to see this one on the road, or in someone elses garage!
