The hosting company had a major software crash this time -- apparently whatever patches or fixes they had been doing to keep the list serve software running finally broke down. A major reinstall should have fixed future problems. Just in case, I'm going to investigate other services over the next few months. If we have anything more than a day or two of down time, I'm moving the list elsewhere. > > Unfortunately, about 20-25% of the user base got kicked off for some reason. If you have been kicked off or know of anyone who has, please pass the word that they can now re-register! I've just turned "moderation" off, and will leave it off through the weekend. That means anyone can join without waiting for me to allow them to post. I'll turn moderation back on Monday. I originally turned moderation on because of possible spammers, but I don't want to inconvenience anyone further. I'll run through the new members daily and halt any suspect addresses until I've got e-mail confirmation that they are truly interested in the list. I've already done so to one unusual looking address. > > I apologize for the inconvenience. The list isn't a big customer, but I've made it clear to the hosting company that I'm not happy with the way things have gone this time, and that if it happens again the list will be moving. > > Thanks for your patience! > > Frank Swygert > List Administrator > PS -- you MIGHT have to register on the web site again if you can post from your e-mail but not the website. Since they are independent of each other your website log-in SHOULD still work even if you were kicked off the list though. Mine did. If anyone has problems e-mail me and I'll get you back on. ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
