Frank, Don't waste your time making the bayonet to eye end adapters. They are commonly available for Jeep XJ applications for offroading and last time I looked not very expensive! -- Mark Price markprice242ATadelphia.net Morgantown, WV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Date: Tue, 10 Jan 2006 21:10:11 -0500 From: farna@xxxxxxx Subject: To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx Message-ID: <ADVANCES62kJXrRjbDt0000004a@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> BEFORE ORDERING -- check on what the bottom end is like. 63-64 Classic/Ambo models have a "bayonet" (stud) end on BOTH ends. IIRC the 65 has an "eye" end on the bottom instead of a bayonet. The TSM just shows the 66 as having the eye end, but they were published early and often use last year's illustration when only minor changes were made. The adaptation to the eye end is made using a "U" bracket bolted or riveted (I forget which) to the lower arm. In a pinch you can unbolt/grind off the rivet and use a bayonet end shock, or make a bracket and use an eye end shock. The eye end is really hte better of the two -- it "frees" the suspension a bit more and allows it to react just a little quicker and easier. When I need new front shocks it's a change I intend to make.
