Re: Two Piece Front Hub/Drum Assembly

Anyone taken a late V-8 drum/hub apart? I never paid attention to drums that much before -- the only new ones I ever bought came with a hub, and I don't even recall what make/model/year the car was! Matt is likely right -- all are two piece units.

I just had a look at the front drums from my Javelin. After careful inspection, they do indeed look like two pieces, although they don't readily separate. These are 10" V8 drums which I believe are factory original - the car has 45,000(hard) miles and has been off the road since about 1980. They're now carefully stored in my garage as I have converted to disks.

Maybe it was cheaper to cast one hub for all models, then a separate 9 or 10" drum could be added. My '67 Plymouth also came with separate hubs and drums from the factory, but the aftermarket replacements were one piece hub/drum castings.
